About us

Two generations on the same ground.

Bosman Safaris is a small, family-run outfitter in Limpopo. We take six parties a season, we hunt the ground ourselves, and we would rather lose a booking than compromise on how an animal is taken.

The professional hunter who leads every Bosman Safaris hunt, in the field
Your professional hunter

You will hunt with the person who answers your email.

This section is waiting on the client’s own words. What goes here is the professional hunter’s biography: where they grew up, when they qualified, what they have guided, and why they still walk this ground themselves rather than putting a junior on it.

International hunters book people, not properties. A specific, honest, first-person biography here will do more for enquiries than every other page on this site combined, so it is worth sitting down and getting it right.

Alongside it should sit a working portrait: the PH in the field, in the clothes they actually wear, not a posed studio shot.

Where we stand

Our ethics, written down.

Hunting in South Africa has a reputation problem and a good deal of it is earned. Here is exactly how we operate, before you have paid us anything.

Fair chase, defined

An animal that has spent its life on this ground, was not released for the season, is not confined to an area it cannot leave, and is hunted on foot with no artificial advantage beyond a rifle or a bow and a pair of legs. If we cannot say that about an animal, we do not sell it to you.

We turn animals down

Roughly one in five stalks ends with your PH shaking his head at an animal that is not old enough. That is not us being difficult. A six-year-old kudu bull with good horns still has three seasons of breeding left in him, and the concession is worth more with him in it.

No canned anything

Our lion are wild and free-range, hunted on an allocated permit. No captive-bred lion, no released trophies, no bait for anything except bushpig and the permitted predators. We will not arrange a canned hunt through a third party and we will tell you plainly if that is what you are asking for.

Conservation is the business model

Sustainable-use hunting is what pays for the anti-poaching patrols, the boreholes, the fence maintenance and the twenty-two people this operation employs. Take the hunting revenue away and this ground goes back to cattle within a season.

The wider family

Part of a farming operation, not a standalone safari business.

The hunting concession sits inside a working Bosman family agricultural operation that predates it by a generation. That is why the roads are maintained, the boreholes run, the fences hold and there is a cold room and a properly equipped workshop on site.

It also means the safari business is not carrying the whole property on its own. We are not under pressure to fill weeks we should not be filling, or to say yes to a hunt we should be saying no to.

Ask us anything

Including the questions you would rather not put to a salesperson.

How many animals we turn down, what our recovery rate is, who else will be in camp that week. Ask, and you will get a straight answer.
